Special Acknowledgements
Mr Chris Powell
We acknowledge the outstanding, long term commitment of Mr Chris Powell, who recently announced his retirement from the CCA Board. Chris joined the Board of the Childhood Cancer Association in 1997 and was appointed President in 2002. Chris led the Association as President for 8 years until he elected to stand down in 2010. During his time as President, Chris was instrumental in the purchase of the Association's major capital investment, organised and supported a number of highly successful fundraising events, provided sound financial and industrial advice, and established relationships in the corporate sector along with other charitable organisations and hospital stakeholders. Both as President, and as a Board member, Chris has been instrumental in raising the profile and the reputation of the Childhood Cancer Association to its current highly respected and regarded situation.
Mr Peter Marshman
We also pay special tribute to Peter Marshman, who has recently retired, after 10 years of service to the Association as a Board member. Prior to joining the Board, Peter set up a fathers group within Family Service which ran for a number of years. Since his appointment, Peter has been an active and valuable member of the Board. He has always taken carefully considered positions on the various issues being debated and was instrumental in the redrafting of our constitution. We sincerely thank Peter for his contributions to the Association and wish him all the very best for the future.
