The impact of childhood cancer on children and their families is incredible. It affects not only the child but also their brothers and sisters, parents, grand parents, friends, the whole community. All donations are welcome.

Life Membership of the Childhood Cancer Association may be conferred on any member who has served the Association with distinction.

As Patrons of the Association, the Governor and Mrs Scarce will support our major events throughout the year, whenever possible, and in 2010 will host our annual volunteers and supporters event at Government House.  We sincerely thank the Governor and Mrs Scarce for generously accepting the role of Patrons, and look forward to working with them during the Governor's term of office.

Daniel Harris, Redbacks & Adelaide Strikers cricketer

Daniel Harris will be heading into this summer full of confidence after an amazing KFC Big Bash tournament last year. Not only did he help his side win the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash grand final, he finished as the competition’s highest run scorer and was named the most outstanding South Australian cricketer in the Twenty20 competition. Harris was also named as an opening batsman in the T20 team of the year at the annual State Cricket Awards.

Kane Richardson, Redbacks & Adelaide Strikers cricketer

Kane Richardson has shown that he has significant potential and should soon become a regular across all formats. Richardson had an outstanding KFC Big Bash Final last summer, helping the Redbacks to an 8 wicket victory over NSW with 3-31 off four overs. He also made his debut in the Shield format against Queensland at Adelaide taking 5-109 for the match.

Travis Boak, AFL footballer - Port Adelaide Football Club

Travis has established himself as one of the Power's premier midfielders, and finishing fourth in the Power's best and fairest in 2010.  Travis supports the Association through regular hospital visits, by attending CCA events throughout the year and spending time with children undergoing treatment for cancer.

Kate Collins, Reporter & Presenter Nine News

Kate Collins is a reporter and presenter for Nine News.  Kate has been with Channel 9 Adelaide since November 2006.  Kate Collins completed an undergraduate bachelor of Media degree at Adelaide University in 2005 and a Post Graduate Diploma of Journalism at Magill Uni SA in 2006.  While completing her studies, Kate worked as a weekend newsreader at Austereo for just over 9 months, before leaving to make the switch to TV, joining the Channel 9 news team as a General Reporter four years ago.  2008 was a major highlight for Kates' career when she was announced as the presenter of the latest edition of Adelaide's A Current Affair.  Kate quickly became accepted and well-known to the Adelaide viewers.  Kate is a trusted and admired young newsreader with a fine career ahead of her.  Kate reports for Nine News and is a part of the presenting team.

CCA looks forward to working with Kate, who where possible, will support our major events throughout the year.

Dr Michael Rice, OAM, Consultant Paediatrician Women's & Children's Hospital

Dr Rice has always been extremely supportive of the Childhood Cancer Association and kindly accepted the role of Ambassador in April 2010.  The Childhood Cancer Association units, located in Prospect, and made available to country families whilst staying in Adelaide for treatment, were named after Dr Michael Rice when they opened in 1985.  At the time, Dr Rice was recognised as the leader and driving force in paediatric oncology in South Australia.

Dr Rice has received many prestigious awards over the years including:

* 1998 - The Howards Williams Medal at the Australian College of Paediatrics
* 2000 - The Medal of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians
* 2003 - The Centenary Medal
* 2004 - The Gold Medal of the Australian Medical Association
* 2004 - The Medal of the Order of Australia
