"In 2008, our son Alex was awarded with a courage trophy by his school for his determination, his spirit and fun loving nature… not for his good marks, not for winning a sports’ competition but for winning the biggest competition he will ever win: his battle with cancer.

Friday 4th July 2008 is a date that we will never forget. That day, Alex was taken to hospital to have an emergency MRI. This was following a series of inconclusive tests trying to identify why our son had been experiencing seizures.

While waiting for the MRI results, we could already feel deep inside that something was not right. The nurse reassured us saying that Alex would return soon and that unless it was a life-threatening condition we would be able to go home… but we did not go home that night."
