We provide a wide range of services to support children living with cancer and their families.
- Hospital Visitation Program - Each day, one of our trained counsellors visit the children and their families in the Women's and Children's Hospital, to provide practical and emotional support. We also have dedicated and trained volunteers who visit the hospital, take snacks to families in the ward and clinic and offer beauty and pampering to patients and their families.
- Home Tutor Scheme - Established in 1989, we support school aged children with cancer with long and short term tutors at home.
- Scholorships - 'The Garrick Sholarship Fund' - Established in 2001, this program provides vital financial support to young people who may have long term learning difficulties arising from their battle with cancer.
- Financial Assistance -All too often, families incur additional and unexpected expenses associated with their child's illness. In conjunction with Allied Health, we provide financial assitance for families in need who have a child on treatment. Always direct any requests through your social worker.
- Coffee Mornings - Organised by one of our trained counsellors each week. A chance to get a much needed break away from the hospital and meet other families.
- Special Events - These include Elliot's Picnic, the Annual Christmas Picnic and the Family Zoo Day.
- Tickets - Through the generosity of our many supporters, we sometimes receive complimentary tickets for our families to major events and concerts in Adelaide. We endeavour to distribute any tickets in a fair manner based on the needs of our families at that particular time.
- Family Packs - These packs provide information, contacts, overnight accessories, a camera and small gifts for family members as they are faced with the news of their child having cancer.
